After being a regular attendee to One Million Cups for a few years now I know how much value it offers local entrepreneurs. It was such an honor to have some time on stage to explain what I do.
You have to write 100,000 words before you can write anything of quality. I am putting in my video time currently. Making changes and improvements by doing the work in public.
What have I learned? Since the 1st video I’ve improved sound quality and lighting. Since the 2nd video I’ve improved the staging, lighting, framing, and vocal flow.
Get out there and start creating and building those skills. Don’t worry about being good (just avoid being “bad”) and start improving.
Hear the tale of over-effort and why you should “stop trying so hard” from one of my all time favorite books Maximum Performance.
This is an interesting concept and a different way to approach the problem.
Lucas Walker Business Consulting was featured on KOLR 10 News. The Ozarks Live 1 Million Cups Spotlight is a program featuring local entrepreneurs doing amazing things in Southwest Missouri.
Kelly was an amazing host, facilitating Lucas Walker getting the message out about the good LWBC can do for the local business owners.
The best part of Halloween is the dedicated time to face our fears. My early Halloweens were how I started to overcome the fear of going door to door, which later in life helped unlock a path to sales skills.
What are you doing throughout the rest of the year to deal with your fears and anxieties?
How long is your daily “To Do” list?
It should only be 3- 5 items! This is the most efficient system ever for getting those important things done.
Two Common Mistakes
- Not Making A Daily To Do List
- Putting Way Too Many Things On Your Daily To Do List
When we put way too many things on the list, we become unmotivated by the unavoidable failure we will be experiencing and we hardly even start on our list.
This video outlines a great way to frame your daily accomplishments in the most efficient way possible.
This tactic chains really well with the “Calendar Line” system to win day after day!
This trick REALLY works. Basically you just draw a line through a day after completing your goal for that day. As you do multiple days, that line starts to grow and become continuous. You don’t want to break that line, so you keep doing the habit.
The first 2 – 3 days of this is still about self discipline, but after that the system starts to take over (which is great because that’s when motivation starts to wane).
It plays off of our “completion bias,” the desire for all of the loose ends to be neatly bundled up. (That’s the same drive that Linked In uses to show the % of completion on your profile to convince you to keep filling it out and get to 100%. A strong pressure!)
I first learned of this idea here (https://lifehacker.com/281626/jerry-seinfelds-productivity-secret) and have found it useful for myself and my clients!
Trying to establish a new habit? Give this a try!
Combine this habit with the 3 – 5 Daily To Do List productivity tip to get even more done!
Are you getting 1% better every day?
How do you focus on continually learning?
I have always loved reading and looked down on audiobooks as a lesser form of media for someone without the mental tools to read and extract information on their own. What a change of opinion I’ve had over these past few years though!
For me surprisingly, audiobooks have become a huge part of being able to grow in a time efficient way. I outline the basic system and findings I’ve realized for myself.
❓How do you continually learn and develop yourself?
❓What are some must read (or listen) audiobooks on personal growth, business growth, or strategies that have influenced you?
Why is optimism so important when running a business?
Having faith in the vision for your future is all you have to keep you going when times get tough, and they WILL get tough. Your own internal motivation and self discipline will waiver.
Staying tapped into your optimism can keep your energy reserves re-fueled.
